Laboratory Automation is the use of technology for science experiments. How does it work?
The use of technology in the class can be done within the classroom or in the field. Promoted by PASCO and VERNIER, the use of sensors replacing standard analog measuring instruments allows digital collection of data. The data collection can be done across time using computers or even data-collecting calculators or PDAs. Data is then downloaded to a spreadsheet for detailed analysis by the students in the classroom. Genetic continues to research in this area of laboratory automation to allow schools to maximize the technology using affordable materials with almost the same accuracy as the expensive models. In cooperation with partner schools, Laboratory Manuals presenting Experiments are converted to carry out procedures using the equipments for laboratory automation. |
